Elsema: Frequently Asked Questions
What is the PCR43308R 8-channel receiver used for?
The PCR43308R is a highly versatile 433MHz receiver designed for complex wireless control. It is commonly used in industrial and automotive applications such as tilt-tray tow trucks, concrete pump trucks, mining water carts, and warehouse automation for roller doors and forklifts.
What are the key differences between the PCR43308R and PCR43308SS models?
The main difference lies in the type of output provided:
- PCR43308R: Features 8 change-over relay outputs.
- PCR43308SS: Features 8 open-collector outputs.
How many remote controls can be used with this receiver?
The PCR43308R has unlimited memory storage, allowing an unrestricted number of remotes to be programmed to a single receiver. It is fully compatible with both Elsema PentaFOB® and PentaCODE® series transmitters.
What are the electrical power requirements?
The PCR43308R operates on a wide supply voltage range of 12 to 24 Volts AC or DC. It is highly efficient, with a standby current consumption of only 15 mA at 24VDC and 91 mA when all eight relays are active.
What is the difference between Multi-Channel and Single-Channel programming?
- Multi-Channel: Programs all buttons on a remote to the receiver in one step, suitable for simultaneous transmissions where multiple buttons work at the same time.
- Single-Channel: Allows the user to assign specific remote buttons to specific relay outputs, which is ideal for interlocking channels so only one button works at a time.
Does the PCR43308R include an enclosure?
The PCR43308R is supplied as a PCB-only (printed circuit board) module, intended for installation inside an existing control panel or a custom housing. For applications requiring a standalone, weatherproof unit, the PCR43308RE version is available.
What modes are available on the PCR43308R?
By using the onboard dip switches, you can configure advanced behaviour such as:
- Momentary: The relay is active only while the button is pressed.
- Latching: : Output toggles “On” or “Off” with each press.
- Security Latching: Outputs stay on until power is interrupted (similar to fire alarms).
- Delayed OFF: Output deactivation is delayed by 1 to 300 seconds, adjustable via a trimpot.
- Delayed ON: Output activation is delayed by 1 to 10 seconds, adjustable via a trimpot.
- Single Output Latched: Ensures only one output is active at any given time.
- Timed Latching: Combines latching operation with an automatic timeout.
- On-Off: Button 1 turns output ON and Button 2 turns output OFF.
What is the load capacity of the relay outputs?
Each of the 8 change-over relay outputs is rated at 10 Amps at 240VAC. Each relay provides Common (C), Normally Closed (NC), and Normally Open (NO) contacts for maximum wiring flexibility.
How does Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS) improve reliability?
The PCR43308R automatically hops between five different frequencies in the 433MHz frequency band. This technology prevents radio interference and jamming, ensuring the receiver operates reliably even in environments with high RF traffic.
Can I use a single remote button to trigger multiple relays?
Yes, the programming process is highly flexible, allowing a single button on a remote control to be assigned to activate multiple relay outputs simultaneously. Conversely, you can also program multiple buttons to control a single relay.
