Elsema: Frequently Asked Questions
What is the primary application for the MCi415 controller?
The MCi415 is specifically designed to provide robust and reliable control for 3-phase motors used on industrial roller doors. It is engineered to manage the heavy-duty cycles typical of warehouses, factories, and other demanding industrial environments.
What type of protection does the controller offer for the motor?
The unit features integrated thermal overload protection. This safety mechanism automatically monitors the motor’s temperature and shuts it down if it begins to overheat, preventing permanent damage and extending the motor’s operational life.
Can the MCi415 be operated wirelessly?
Yes. In addition to manual controls, the MCi415 can be operated wirelessly using Elsema’s compatible remote controls, providing greater flexibility in busy industrial spaces.
Which remote controls are compatible with this system?
The controller is compatible with Elsema’s PentaFOB® and PentaCODE® series of keyring remotes.
Which controller is replaced by the MCi415?
The MCi415 has replaced the 415S1E. The MCi415 has more advance features and easy setup with Eclipse operating system.
Does this controller require a neutral wire for operation?
The MCi415 typically requires a neutral connection to provide the 240VAC necessary for the internal control circuitry. If your site lacks a neutral wire, a 415V to 240VAC toroidal transformer (such as the Elsema TT415-240) can be used to provide the required control voltage.
What kind of enclosure is used for the MCi415?
The controller is housed in a durable, powder-coated metal enclosure. This design is resistant to corrosion and mechanical damage, making it suitable for harsh industrial settings.
What manual control options are available on the unit?
The front of the control box includes dedicated manual controls for Open, Close, and Stop functions, as well as an Auto/Manual Key switch for selecting the desired operating mode.
How does the Auto/Manual Key switch function?
The Key switch allows a supervisor to lock the system into Manual mode for maintenance or Auto mode for standard operation. This prevents unauthorised users from changing the door’s behaviour or operating it wirelessly when a technician is performing inspections.
Is there a version available for 240VAC 3-phase motors?
Yes. While the MCi415 is for 415VAC motors, Elsema offers the MCi-VSD Series for applications requiring control of 3-phase 240VAC motors.
